For my Draft Video Story, I decided to piece something together to follow up with my ongoing “Personal Art Journey” theme of things. This project’s attention is mainly focused on the Fine Arts Center, where most of my artistic creativity is spent nowadays, rather than on my tablet.
My opening shot is on the Fine Arts Center itself, with numerous students walking past and towards the building. I initially had no real idea of what I wanted to make of my Art Journey for this project, so I hoped taking long shots of the place where I currently did art would help resolve my problem. In the end, it did. After I took the Fine Arts Center video, and a few hours passed, I also took the Studio video actually showing some of my art and others’ art as well. From these two videos I began piecing together what I wanted my project to be about: The Place and Process.
From that concept, I formed the idea to also take photos of my sketch books and the daily ‘observations’ I have written and drawn in there. As part of my Sculpture class, it is mandatory we take daily observations, so incorporating the photos of my books is a simple way to implement them without drawing to much focus to my class. The photos I took demonstrate the beginning of the process for my art, where I need to think my ideas through before I can actually begin putting together the piece. They also show a few different ways an idea can be thought through; the first being a variety of projects without any connection or instructions, the second showing the true process of changing something from plaster to metal, and the third, mainly illustrations of one object(a ufo) with many different types of styles to consider. All three pictures come together to show just how flexible art can be with how you approach it as a medium.
I really like your idea for your video draft, I can tell that art is something that really interests you and takes up a lot of your time. I like your three main shots for your video; outside of the art center, your drawings, and the inside where students doing their creating. I think that you should show the interior of the building second then last and end your video with your different drawings. Maybe adding some light background music to each clip could help the clip come alive more too. I like how you added a bit of dialogue at the bottom of the clips to give a bit of background to what is going on. Overall, I think that your video draft is pretty strong, and I know your final video will be great!

From the feedback I have received, I now understand how my project succeeds, as well as could use more work. I personally am a bit confused on the quality destruction of my work as it seems to be “looking a bit rough”. As I was editing it, it had perfectly fine and clear shots with the wording being decently readable, whereas my Youtube version is blurry for both aspects. Overall though, considering the actual video’s content, I am pleased with what I was able to create. I enjoyed making the wide sweeping motions with the camera, attempting to show the endless amount of art projects and supplies contained within the studio. I also enjoyed my demonstration of showing the process of what it takes to make something coherent, although the pictures became remarkably blurry. However, I also understand the video could use a small middle section of the interior of the Fine Arts Center, most likely the Lobby, to provide a better transition then outside-to-basement. Though it could use some undeniable work, I believe my video gets across what I am trying to say.

Anthony, I really enjoyed your video. I really felt the passion you have for art and creation. I loved that you put a video clip of the front of the art building and then followed up with a span of the art studio, that was creative. However, the beginning two clips of the art building and the drawing you have I think need some music or something then fade it into the studio clip. I also think the first clip of the building was really long and drawn out. Some things I like was the use of text. It was short and easily readable, I appreciated that because it didn’t take away from your footage. I also liked the message; I wish it was a bit longer and depicted more of your original art work. The video just kinda left me hanging, I really wanted to see what your drawings turned into!

Great work Anthony! Your draft video looks awesome. I love how you started off the video at the Fine Arts Building. It gives your viewers an idea on what your blog is about and your artwork journey. I definitely can tell you used Adobe Premiere. I like the subtitles as well. If I was to fix one thing it would be to maybe add a little more detail. Other then that it looks great!
