I have chosen to have my topic be “My Artistic Journey” with my personal experiences as the focus. Throughout my life I have been intrigued by art not only as a hobby to pass the time but also as an option for self-expression and beauty. Another reason for art’s personal impact on myself is the full generality of the word. Art can mean an almost endless number of different medias, sculpture, charcoal, and digital drawing to name a few. I hope through the telling of my “journey” I can depict how each of these varying styles have their own personality, impact, meaning, etc.
For the original materials section of this project, I will most likely have an assortment of materials created by me, and others helped be made with peers and teachers. Since I have access to some forms of artistic media already, all I will need to do for photos is simply take them myself. As for audio and video recordings I may ask my Fine Arts 301 teacher for assistance with explaining an artwork’s meaning or lack-there-of. For most of these materials, I will mainly be using my iPhone Xr seeing as I have no camera and the Xr’s photo quality should work without many problems.
The unit projects should be accomplished with relative ease, seeing as art can encompass almost each of unit’s topics. For example, I plan for Unit 1 to be represented through a poster showing a Shiva-like creature with many arms sitting in reverence while in each hand holding a difference means of creating art (tablet, pencil, drawing pad, brush, etc.) With this imagery I believe the variety of art’s potential through the use of different objects should become apparent. As for Unit 2, I have no clear idea so far how my artistic journey can be shown through a logo, but I can imagine it being a relatively simple design which can easily be identified with art as a whole, or perhaps a more complex design featuring a style such as graffiti, which may be able to physically show many symbols of art.
